May she rest in peace.
Contrary to my comment below, Rosalynn Carter was not the longest lived former first lady. She was the second longest. Bess Truman was 97 when she died in 1982.

Re: Jimmy Carter To Begin Receiving Hospice Care
It's sad that they are both in the same situation at the same time.
They always mention Jimmy Carter as being the longest-lived former president at 99, but Rosalynn at 96 is the longest-lived former first lady, as well. Lady Bird Johnson and Nancy Reagan were both 94 when they died.

I’m not ready to think about Jimmy Carter being gone. What I know for sure is that it’s a better world with him in it.

Re: Jimmy Carter To Begin Receiving Hospice Care
Sad to hear, but at 98, he's lived a great life. He could still go on to many months of life, so we won't call his passing yet, but when he does go, Donald Trump will be the oldest living ex-president for perhaps 5 or 6 years until Biden retires. All the more reason for Jimmy to keep going.
I don't think his 42 years of post-presidency life will be easy to match by any who come after. Clinton and Obama both could, but that will be another 20 to 30 years from now before we find out for sure. Clinton would have to hit 96 and Obama would have to hit 97 to match it.
