Which "progressive" authors are you talking about? TERFs like J.K. Rowling? Homophobes like Orson Scott Card? No one wants to financially support someone who's a bigot. THAT is what's happening. And no one is being cancelled. You will find that nearly everyone who has supposedly been hit by "cancel culture" is still getting plenty of media attention, book deals, script deals, and more. They aren't being cancelled anymore than you or I. It's a smoke screen.

The right wingers came up with the idea of Cancel Culture when they started having to pay for their words and actions. In the real world, it's called consequences. They don't like the consequences being applied to them, so they gripe about the made-up concept of Cancel Culture. The only people who use the term unironically are those who've been called out for their offensive actions (rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, discrimination) or words (racism, homophobia, any other kind of bigotry really). Them and the ignorant who've bought into the notion that people shouldn't be held accountable for saying or doing bad things.

Just one quick note: you need to get out of your own American bubble. Cancel culture, at least in Europe, is not a “right wing” movement. There are plenty of left wing personalities that have been publicly raising concerns about cancelling other authors, artists, movies, books etc… because it doesn’t fit the “progressive” agenda. Anyway, this is an awards forum so I will end my comments about this with this post.

We all know what Woody Allen did. Whether we agree that the charges were valid or made up. (The fact that he not only made a movie, but also got it screened at a major festival shows that he wasn't "cancelled." People in the US don't want to work for/with someone as toxic as Woody is. (And for the record, I haven't bought into what Mia was selling, but I understand why people have and why Woody was called out for it and why a lot of people won't work with him anymore).

Can we please put a cap on these repetitious and monotonous cancel culture posts?

Has it been proven that Woody is guilty of all the accusations by Mia Farrow and Dylan which is why his last two films never got released?
In times of cancel culture this is what you get Reza.
I don't see this happening (by and large) anywhere else in the world. So is "cancel culture" purely a localized phenomena in the United States?

This is, of course, not going to be released in the U.S., so will not be part of any Oscar discussion (as if), but, for the record:
