Who are you? Where do you live?
James from Hollywood, California. Twenty-six. Raised in a small town 40s miles east of Los Angeles where my family and my long-long time girlfriend reside.
I work for a film trailer company that produces mainstream films. I graduated from film school about two years ago and I've been in this job since. I write, I want to direct and I almost never stop thinking about film and somehow the Oscars year-around.
I'm kind of the quiet poster on this board. I'm more of an observer than a contributor, which fits my personality in real life.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the board, trying to catch up by reading through various threads. I had some initial trouble posting but that seems to have been fixed. I'm originally from CT, a junior at NYU, and obviously I love films and making fun of pop culture atrocities like the Oscars. I also seem to be one of the few girls on this board which is interesting but not wholly new to me since film classes are dominated by guys. Well anyway, just wanted to say hi.

That's quite an accomplishment - congrats, Bog.Bog wrote:I grew up outside of Dayton, OH and went to school in the middle of a northwest Ohio cornfield in Ada at Ohio Northern University where I studied pharmacy the last 6 years and just received my doctorate in pharmacy in May, upon which I spent the summer studying for the boards and passed them and am now "technically" Dr. Ryan, but for a pharmacist that is a formality.
Parents named me Charles Ryan with the intention of my proper name being Ryan (most would say Ryan Charles more logical), friends seem to call me Chuck or Charlie all the time and think they are clever as hell. I also get the name Duce a lot, due to my last name.

I have been around on this board ever since I thought American Beauty was a masterpiece but have always been so busy with schoolwork and the ridiculous amount of extracurriculars that I usually was able to grab a few minutes to read the splendid contributions on the board, but never too often able to put in my 2 cents. I love this board an incredible amount and consider it one of the best things on the great interweb.
My girlfriend took a job in Reno and there was contemplation on taking that plunge, things didn't so much pan out in that way and I now currently reside in Columbus, OH and work for the great Walgreens machine pumping out the Viagra.
not sure why I even picked the Bog, suppose I would change that if I could

Philip to my immediate family, Flipper to my five cousins/honorary brothers in Vermont (hence, "flipp"), Phil or Philly to friends. Phyllis to my Y&R buddy. Decaf to my best friend (don't ask...)
I was born in Great Falls, Virginia in 1978. My parents are each twins and were "college sweethearts". I have a younger sister who lives in NYC and works on Wall Street. As I've said before, we're both named after soap opera characters. In high school, I was completely in the closet, but would occasionally venture into Southeast Washington to Tracks, the legendary gay bar that has since been closed. I got mugged and beaten there once and had to come up with a completely lame cover story to tell my parents. I was extremely studious in high school, and a three season Varsity letterman for the indoor/outdoor track and field and cross country teams -- captain my entire senior year.
I attended Middlebury College in Vermont, graduating with a BA in American Literature (with a creative writing focus) in 2000. [As an aside, I had an incredible time in college although there was one sort of dark mark on my times there. My thesis advisor plagiarized sections of my thesis and published them in her first collection of short stories. I have since begun the process of taking her to court.] While at Middlebury, I also participated in theater for the first time and fell in love with acting. I performed mainly in student-directed productions such as Larry Kramer's "The Normal Heart", an adaptation of RD Laing's "Knots", Nicky Silver's "Raised in Captivity", and Tina Howe's "Museum" which was performed continuously for 24 hours on the college green.
After graduation, I lived in Tokyo for a year teaching English and working on my short fiction. I completed some of my best work while living abroad.
My hobbies include bodybuilding, watching soap operas, reading, writing fiction, Oscars (obvs), and croquet.
Since 2003, I've been a defense contractor for the U.S. Navy. That's all I can really say about that as I have a pretty high clearance...
I've been in an on-again-off-again love affair since April with the hottest, most wonderful guy in Washington, D.C. (did I mention that I was gay? LOL). I am anxiously awaiting moving into my brand-new one-bedroom condo in lovely Logan Circle. Construction is set to be completed in December, but I'm expecting 1-2 months of inevitable delays. This will be my first home purchase.
Also, I've been a member of this board since 1997.

Joseph--Joe to my family, Jojo to my friends, Joseph at work (The Three Faces of Joe).
Born outside of Chicago, moved to a small town in central Florida when I was 5; as an adult, lived for 6 years in Orlando, then 10 years in Tampa; last December, just after my 37th birthday, I moved back up to Chicago, where I'm employed in the human resources department at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (where Roger Ebert has received treatment); I received a BA in History at the University of South Florida and will be applying to the University of Illinois at Chicago to pursue a PhD in French history (specifically, the role of homosexuality in French Colonial North Africa).
If you didn't know, I'm a flaming homosexual; no boyfriend, but I remain ever hopeful. Aside from men, my passions are history, film and literature. I wish I had a cat--after Bogart passed away, I had Emma (after Lady Emma Hamilton, not Emma Thompson) to keep me company, but I had to leave her with my mother as my roommate is allergic. Drat.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina and currently residing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (USA).
I'm married and we are expecting a boy in April.
The rest is a mystery, ... a mystery shrouded in darkness. Or just dimly lit... maybe? Nah, I'll tell you more. I've been working on screenplays and music in my free time after work. I might edit this later with more stuff, but I have to pick up something to eat for dinner.

My name is Jonathan McKie, and live on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, but then moved with my parents to North Uist in the Outer Hebrides where I would eventually meet my wife, Heather. We have a son, Aaron, who will be three in February next year. I used to be a sports journalist, but now do free-lance work for various newspapers in Glasgow (I have several contacts in the great City). I guess you could say my full-time job is looking after our son. My wife's a radio producer.
Some years ago, someone on this site asked these questions: Who are you? Where do you live? What do you do?
It is not essential that you answer, but it is sort of interesting for all of us to see information about our friends. I had a list of everyone's name from then( I think about 1998), but I have, of course, lost it, along with my mind!
I'll start: I am Cam Dagg, Coquitlam, BC Canada,( suburb of Vancouver BC); I am married for forty-five years to Danae; have two children, both married, and two grandchildren who we look after two days a week. Both my wife and I were in the education biz--I was a high-school theatre teacher, my wife a community school coordinator and university prof. For 30 years, we had a vacation home an hour away, in the US, but sold it this year, in order to travel while we still can, and we did not like to be in the US anymore-- we were liberals in a Republican community. I am a (young) 70 years old. I enjoy films, all kinds of music, and good books with good wine.
