I'm gonna interpret that to mean that Kevin was shirtless again. Any YouTube link for that scene?

Thanks for the info, Pen. If Luke really does end up getting a boyfriend or a romantic interest, I might have to check in just for the sheer novelty of it. I really enjoy Van Hansis' performance, too. He's very talented. Do you think TPTB truly realize how many of their viewers are gay? With soap ratings tanking across the board, I'm surprised that they haven't taken advantage of the possibility of picking up even more of this niche audience by exploring what happens after a gay man comes out of the closet. We don't just hop right back in, for chrissakes! I mean, shouldn't Luke be going through the classic "fuck anything that crosses your path" stage of being gay?

Now that SOAPNet is cancelling their daily airings of classic Another World episodes on April 9th (to be hideously replaced by one of THREE daily showings of One Fucking Tree Hill -- is that even a soap?) I might be in the clear to pick up another soap and from what I saw of ATWT, I liked it.

Is Brad played by the ever-wooden Austin Peck?

Yes, Karl Girolamo (Kevin) is waaaay hot. Sadly, however, he hasn't been since since September, when Luke saved his life when he almost drowned and he realized he'd been an ass about Luke being gay.

Too, since then Luke has been pretty much backburned, which is VERY disappointing, especially considering the acclaim ATWT received for the s/l -- the WGA award, Van Hansis' Emmy nomination, the GLAAD nomination. CBS has been hinting that Luke would be getting a love interest "by spring" -- well, spring is upon us (a glorious 77 degrees here in Chicago today) and Luke is nothing more than a plot development for the thoroughly uninteresting Brad/Katie/Jack triangle (Brad "assaulted" Luke's teacher when he found out the teacher had rejected Luke's history essay simply because Luke was gay, leading Katie -- who "hates" Brad -- to pay his bail).

If anything happens with Luke, I suspect it won't be until the summer, and even then I bet they're gonna tip-toe around it. Very disappointing; have some balls, ATWT -- your ratings are in the tank, this can only help!

Okay, I'm slowly crawling my way out of a YouTube vortex. I just finished watching parts 1 through 7 of Luke's Coming Out arc on ATWT. First of all, that was great. I'm so happy that a daytime show is approaching this topic realistically and maturely. I've been seriously lamenting the lack of gay characters on daytime for awhile now. As progressive as Y&R likes to purport itself as being, they have yet to introduce a gay character which greatly annoys me. Kudos to this show (and Van Hansis' wonderful portrayal) for this storyline. I noticed on Hansis' imdb.com page that he portrayed Matthew Shepard on stage. Boy, do those two look similar.

That Kreeger Foundation guy was fucking creepy as hell. I recognized him as Lisa Kudrow's husband on the hilarious, short-lived comic gem, "The Comeback". Those de-programming camps are seriously frightening. What's worse than the ones who run it are the so-called graduates who act gayer than ever. Shiver.

Kevin, the guy that Luke has a crush on, is damn fucking hot, too. What's going on with those two now? Anything? Does Luke have a love interest or was he just backburnered after the initial shock of the coming out wore off?

If you're interested in some more boy-candy, check out this clip of Reva and her hot son, Jonathan on Guiding Light. Yum. FYI, he takes his shirt off at around the 2:00 mark...

But at least I was right about Gwen's mother being involved in the torment.

According to spoilers, Adam does indeed turn up alive and attempts, again, to rape Gwen. Talk about insane; when the original Adam left town a few years ago he was the quintessential sweet boy next door; he goes to Hollywood for a few years and returns a viscious rapist.

Same thing is happening with Alison Stewart; she was a sweet girl who moved to Seattle with Aaron Snyder a few years ago; now, having broken up with Aaron, she's made her way to Hollywood and become a porn actress.

As flipp has complained elsewhere, this ignorance of characters' histories and radical behavioral changes is insulting to long-time viewers.

I haven't seen yesterday or today's episode, yet...so unless they showed his rotting corpse yesterday... :;):

I still think Adam is still alive (that they had Matt Cavenaugh show up to terrify Gwen [either in reality or fantasy] indicates that he'll be returning soon, I think); but I'll bet the person coming into Gwen's house in the final scene yesterday is indeed Iris.

So my theory becomes even more apparent. The tape of Adam's voice telling each of them to meet in the forest is quite obviously NOT made by Adam. Jade says he was a wiz in the recording studio. How can he get into a recording studio if everyone's out looking for him? It's also painfully obvious the recording is just spliced-together excerpts of Adam's past speaking engagement. I really think it's all Gwen's mother seeking revenge on her for being so rudely dismissed...After all, she's been MIA for the past couple of weeks while this has been going on.

Ok. It's possible, but I really think it's Gwen's mother...even if Adam's still alive...and that would go a lot towards those dreams Gwen's been having of him reaching up and grabbing her from underneath.

I don't think so; there's been no official report that Matt Cavanaugh (Adam) has left the show; and even if Hal's death was due to Benjamin Hendrickson's death, I still don't think they'd kill another Munson/Hughes family member so soon. Gwen and Maddie didn't bury him very deep. This IS a soap opera after all--James Stenbeck survived a fall from a helicopter, and just last year, Emily jumped off a cliff...and bounced!

Hal wasn't for any reason other than the actor died.

I think these "mysterious" calls are Gwenn's mother.

OMG, Henry and Vienna today were a riot! I love them together!

And I just know Adam really isn't dead--I mean, they couldn't kill another one of Will's immediate family so soon after Jennifer and Hal!

Incidentally, ATWT won the WGA for best writing for a daytime drama; if you're curious, here are the episodes they won for (heavily featuring Luke's coming out s/l):

Episode #12,760
Breakdown Writer: Lisa Connor
Script Writer: Judy Donato
Synopsis: Paul finally gets past Susan to deliver the news to Emily that she's pregnant. He urges her to have an abortion and, eventually, Emily agrees.... Jack tells Mike and Katie about the Kasnoff DNA on the medal.... Lily is reeling after hearing Luke's secret. Holden hopes he and Lily can be there for Luke.

Episode #12,839
Breakdown Writer: Leah Laiman
Script Writer: Susan Dansby
Synopsis: Luke comes out to Kevin and Kevin rejects him.... Mike walks in on naked Simon with Carly.... The Slasher kills another teen at Raven Lake.

Episode #12,840
Breakdown Writer: Judy Tate
Script Writer: Richard Culliton
Synopsis: Dusty overhears that Lucy has contacted Craig for Paul.... Holden tells Emma that Luke is gay.... Kevin rejects Luke for coming out.... Maddie finds Casey and tells him she wants him to know everything, as Louis spies on them with binoculars.

And, as much as we may complain about the current writing in soaps, today's ep of ATWT was an example of how to do it right: sure, the Paul/Meg/Craig s/l sucked wind (anything with Craig seems to suck wind), but Luke talking with Lucinda, Will and Jade arguing, Casey, Margo and Tom at the police station, Emily and the brothel madame (great to see Robin Mattsen after all these years), and evil Adam attacking Gwen...for the first time in months, I was on the edge of my seat!
