The only reason I would never want to visit Lebanon is the temperature. I don't know if it's really as hot and muggy as I might imagine, but I'm not a fan of hot weather in general.

It's funny Marco -- I think 98 percent of Americans (there's still a smal percentage ignorant enough who never want to go anywhere) would love to visit Italy, but I doubt that Lebanon is on the radar of more than a relative handful of people here.

Hehe... Thank you all. Well, no Oprah this time, no (though I DID see her promoting a probably dreadful inspirational book, but at least this time NOT during sex!). Anyone should have his or her birthday in Beirut, and for a lot of reasons - including the fact that here, unlike in Europe or, even more I think, in the US, age isnt an obsession, and by their standards I still look like I am in my late twenties-early thirties. And while I do look a bit younger than my age - I have THAT kind of face - a guy recently asked me if I was 25, which to be honest is completely absurd (but it was nice of him).
But birthday or not birthday, Lebanon is a country which everyone should visit at least once - especially if, like in this period, it's relatively peaceful. For its beauty, the beauty of its people, the complexity and variety of its lifestyles and cultures, the sweetness of its climate, and even the delicious food they make. Try it.

Hope you have had a very Happy Birthday and that the upcoming year is filled with happiness for you.
The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. It's faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes a life worth living. Oliver Wendell Holmes
