Man, I enjoyed reading that just cuz it was so convoluted!

I have a new theory on the Cane/Jill situation: What if Cane is actually Gloria's son? There seemed to be such a point made on Tuesday of having Cane be introduced to Gloria and then something tipped me off a little bit when he remembered so instantly her drink of choice at Indigo after only being there a couple times (it just screamed "Look, audience, there's a connection between these two characters!" to me, in a soapy way). Okay, so hear me out.

Suppose that Violet Montgomery pulled off two switches to ensure that Jill's real child would be that much harder to track down. She took Real!P3 (Phillip III) and switched him out with another baby taking Katherine's ring as payment. She then took Real!P!3 (who, by the way is Michael Baldwin) and switched him out with a desperate Gloria's child, Cane, giving her the ring as payment. After the double switch, Jill had as-yet-unknown baby (perhaps Violet's child herself? Or an abandoned baby she found?), Gloria had the real Phillip (Michael) and Violet had Gloria's child, Cane. This scenario allows Cane to stay on the canvas and the spoiler about Michael finding Katherine's ring makes sense. Katherine's new back-door approach of finding Phillip will lead to clues of yet another baby switch that was made by Violet before she died unexpectedly. Just tryin' to think like LML -- this theory keeps Cane around and ties him to someone in GC as well as injects her precious Fisher-Baldwins into the switched baby s/l. It also augments the phantom Jill/Gloria feud the writers are always dancing around (Bardwell, Extreme Catwalk, etc), with the added angst of Jill feeling conflicted that Cane is actually Gloria's and not hers', no matter how motherly she might feel towards him.

OMG -- Cane's not Jill's son? WTF?! Who is then? I really wanted him to be the real Phillip Chancellor.

Interestingly, there's a spoiler out there that says Michael Baldwin finds, in his possessions, the ring that Katherine gave to Violet Montgomery as payment to take Phillip III away. Hmm...

The one where Elliot beat Emily up, and then Dusty comforted her in her room? (And, actually, Elliot was Emily's third "client.") Yep, Kelley Menighen Hensley was fantastic in that episode (a very unusual episode, since the focus was almost entirely on her, aside from Meg and Craig). But that would qualify for next year; this year, I'm almost positive KMH will be nominated for the episode last April where Emily was tortured by the demons of her past and threw herself off the cliff--if she's not, there's simply no justice.

There haven't really been any trick-turners with Emily yet...and I don't remember the girl from Y&R going there, but they are advertising some ATWT/Y&R joint Inet-show thing...so I'm pretty sure that's who that is.

And the ATWT ep was fantastic. it's her Emmy showcase.

I don't know, flipp, but it could be. Alison was supposed to turn up on Y&R (and, I believe, with Amber) before returning to ATWT; I've heard that Alison is now a porn star--and with Emily turning tricks, I bet that'll make Susan a very proud mama!

Is Alison Stewart the one who crossed over to Y&R for a single episode a couple of weeks ago to help Amber manipulate Cane into a sham Vegas wedding while indulging in Basic Instinct-style girl-on-girl dancing and cross-dressing as Amber's groom? Is that who that girl is? If so, yes, Penelope, she did appear on the show to whore things up with the B&B crossover character, Amber.

I know the name but don't know the character. Today's episode was all about Gwen and Adam's return from the dead.
I'm at work right now and I can't wait to get home to watch it; yesterday's previews showed Gwen screaming to brilliant camp effect--I hope it lives up to its promise.

OscarGuy wrote:Why is she leaving anyway? It doesn't make sense to me.

From what I've been able to gather, there are several factors that went into Victoria Rowell's (Dru) decision to be let out of her contract early. She was dissatisfied that the powers that be decided to bring back the old Lily who VR never particularly got along with. She also asked if she could have a role on the show as a writer which was immediately scoffed at. The final factor was that she failed to receive an Emmy pre-nod from her fellow castmates. I don't think she feels appreciated around the set anymore and with an upcoming book and various film offers, she thought it would be a good time to jump ship. She's left the show before only to come back a couple years later so it's not completely unheard of.

Renee Jones' Lexie has reinvented herself enough times in the past on Days of Our Lives (from cop to doctor; from good police chief's wife to master DiMera manipulator and baby-switching bitch) that I could see her being able to slip into Dru in a possibly interesting way. She's no VR, but potential casting for Dru could be a lot worse.

Also, apparently Renee Jones (ex-Dr. Lexie Carver, Days) is in talks to take over the role of Drucilla Barber-Winters upon Victoria Rowell's April exit from the show.

And I love how Kevin's sticking it to everyone.

And I have never hated J.T. more than I do now.

I think one of the reasons that I love this Jill/Cane thing is that I'm a total sucker for a long-lost mother revelation. Like Fay Bainter in White Banners or, even better, Olivia de Havilland in To Each His Own (for which she won her first Oscar, of course). At the end when de Havilland told by her son that she's his mother and he asks her to dance, it is truly one of those great movie moments -- absolutely heartbreaking. I kind of got the same feeling when I saw the preview for today's episode when Jill does the same to Cane.
