Hobbit Trilogy Is Confirmed
Two films will become three.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's official: The Hobbit will be three films rather than two. Peter Jackson took to his Facebook page today to announce that the story will be extended across three films as rumoured recently.

Jackson said that, "We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.

"So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of The Hobbit films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.

"It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, 'a tale that grew in the telling.'"

There's no word yet on the subtitle of the third film and how it will fit in with An Unexpected Journey and There And Back Again, nor do we have a new release schedule for the three. Presumably this third film will take the story's finish back to 2014, but that remains to be confirmed.

In any case, this has got to be good news for Hobbit fans. What are you hoping to see in the third film?

Could we end up with THREE Hobbit movies?

According to reports coming out of San Diego's Comic-Con, Peter Jackson may be looking at the possibility of splitting The Hobbit into THREE movies rather than the two originally planned. Bleeding Cool have translated an article on Portuguese website Omlete that goes on double-translated record as saying Jackson has spoken in interviews about the possiblity.

In related news, a new poster was released earlier this week for the first installment in the saga, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, placing Sir Ian McKellan's Gandalf at the front-and-centre and we also have a huge 'scroll' featuring images from the film in story order.

He does look a bit like a Klingon from Star trek.

I prefer Tovey from Being Human, truth be told (as well as the actor who originally played Turner's role in the pilot)

I'm expecting Aiden Turner to be the breakout star from these films. He's a gifted actor. Anyone who watched Being Human will know where I'm coming from.

I have also noticed that each dwarf seems to have a different style of weapon ergo fighting style.

More dwarves: Oin (John Callen - left) and Gloin (Peter Hambleton - right). Please also note that Gloin is the father of Gimli from LOTR! :D

Oscar Guarantee: Makeup

I don't see how it could lose with work like this...Costume Design may also be a threat. Only impressions from the images alone.
