Beyonce has always resembled a man in drag for me, never really bought the whole "hot" concept...
Hancock is no doubt more talented and accomplished than Winehouse, but her album was the only worthy one nominated, and the tidal wave of support and publicity fell just short of a *deserved* clean sweep.
Man, I hate the Grammys.

The most exciting awards for us were the awards to hometown people: 1)my friend, Michael Buble, who has grown so much in the past ten years from ordinary lounge singer to world-class pop performer,
2) The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra up against formidable competition from "the old world", a tight disciplined band under its witty and world-renowned conductor Bramwell Tovey, and Manitoban James Ehnes, and the CBC Recording of the Barber, Walton and Korngold Violin Concertos. For those who love romantic 20th century romantic composers, this is an incredible buy--three great works on one CD, beautifully done.

West and Steely Dan definitely. But leave Winehouse alone. She's divine.Eric wrote:though I think Herbie Hancock, even turning in another lame Starbucks album, is more talented than Steely Dan, not to mention Winehouse and West.)
Though not as divine as Beyonce's legs. I think someone may be able to dethrone Tina in that department.

I believe I did. Not here, though, evidently.
I should've put some money down on it. I could've quit my job playing against those odds. (Actually, not really. This is just an extreme example of Steely Dan syndrome ... though I think Herbie Hancock, even turning in another lame Starbucks album, is more talented than Steely Dan, not to mention Winehouse and West.)

And now she has Record of the Year too. Go Amy! Hopefully she can sweep the top categories and keep Album of the Year away from Kanye.
I knew all those predictions of Umbrella winning made no sense. Even the Grammys aren't dumb enough to confuse Rihanna with real artistry over someone like Amy.
Josh Groban sounds like an old man.

Sorry, couldn't find the original post...
Here are the movie related winners...
- Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media: Love (The Beatles). George Martin & Giles Martin, producers
Across the Universe, Dreamgirls, Hairspray and Once were the other nominees.
- Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media: Ratatouille. Michael Giacchino, composer
Babel, Blood Diamond, The Departed, Happy Feet and Pan's Labyrinth were the others. I'm amazed that Pan's Labyrinth failed to win in every award it was nominated for! Can't believe it... Thank God it wasn't to Babel again.
- Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media: "Love You I Do" (From Dreamgirls). Siedah Garrett & Henry Krieger, songwriters (Jennifer Hudson, performer)
Falling Slowly (from Once), Guaranteed (from Into the West), The Song of the Heart (from Happy Feet) and You Know my Name (from Casino Royale) completed the group. Sad thing for Eddie Vedder. First it failed to grab an Oscar nod and then looses here.
On a side note, Spring Awakening won for Best Musical Show Album and actually that made my day. So far Amy Winehouse has won everything she's up to...
