R.I.P. Diana Rigg
Re: R.I.P. Diana Rigg
Her final scene in “Game of Thrones” is almost a master class in acting. Loved her character and she played it so intelligently and sharp-wittedly.

Re: R.I.P. Diana Rigg
I'd been thinking I didn't have much right to chime in on Rigg, because I missed her both at the beginning and the end -- I never watched The Avengers or Game of Thrones. I saw her in really only a few movies -- The Hospital, Theatre of Blood, On Her Majesty's Secret (the last one only recently); she was never a prime presence for me. I was almost like OscarGuy: saw her more often as PBS Mystery host than anything else.Okri wrote:Of all the stage performances I wish I'd seen, her Medea ranks way up there. Guernsey's description of it stuck with me.
However...I did see her in Medea, in which she was quite spectacular -- a force of nature. The Greek tragedies require intense concentration -- if the audience so much as takes a breath, the spell can be broken. Rigg held us for every second she dominated the stage. Kudos, and godspeed.

I first came to know her as the host of PBS' Mystery.

Most of us of a certain age saw her first as Emma Peel in The Avengers. She was absolutely magnificent. Then came Mrs Bond, followed by other favourites like her Bafta winning Mother Love, her Emmy winning Mrs Danvers in Rebecca and one of her last roles as the deliciously witty and evil Oleanna Tyrell in Game of Thrones.

As a child of the 80s, this one hits hard.
The Great Muppet Caper. Evil Under The Sun. The Worst Witch. She was always a pleasure to watch.
And she and the late Honor Blackman were my two favorite Bond girls.

Re: R.I.P. Diana Rigg
This one is another shocker.
In addition to Game of Thrones and all her other recent TV roles, it was just two years ago that she was nominated for a Tony for her Mrs. Higgins in the latest Broadway revival of My Fair Lady. It seemed as if she would go on for at least another ten years.

She was my fall time favourite Bond girl so much so that I would have nominated her for what would have been a well earned Oscar nomination.
