Nat'l Society of Film Critics Awards
Re: Nat'l Society of Film Critics Awards
I saw Creed recently and liked it quite a bit. Haven't worked up to writing about it. Michael B. Jordan wouldn't make my ballot but I'm heartened that he's in the Best Actor conversation considering that critics are being forced to elevate supporting turns (Paul Dano, Michael Keaton) or totally competent, unexciting movie star turns (Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio) with the occasional break to actually honor a good leading male performance here and there like Michael Fassbender. I'd rather see Michael B. Jordan in the race than almost anybody else in the Best Actor conversation so I'm fairly happy.
So I'm guessing we all take a nap until after Kristen Stewart wins?

So even the old-school National Society has joined the live-tweet generation.
Jordan's a good actor, but that's a ridiculous pick, even in a lackluster year. Feels like a second/third round pick -- after the proxies have been abandoned, and a smaller group makes the decision.
