A first in this game - 5 of the top 6 categories have been locked while the 6th remains untouched.

Someone still needs to take care of Dennis Quaid -- the most unforgivable snub that year, IMO.

But Supporting Actor hasn't been touched, and Best Actor is getting filled up, so I'll preserve Jack Nicholson, my favorite male performance this year, and one of Jack's greatest.

Close out the Supporting Actress category by replacing Julianne Moore with Lu Yi-Ching's devastating portrayal of a grieving widow in What Time Is It There?

Hey, Esther Kahn is better than The Pianist and Talk to Her. No idea why you're bemoaning the exclusion of Stephen Daldry.
Haven´t seen Esther Kahn. Polanski´s won was totally deserved. As for Daldry I consider him an excellent director.

We haven't done that in the past, so I think it's just one choice.

Anyway, my choice is to replace Michael Caine with Campbell Scott, Roger Dodger, in leading actor.

Group 1: Roman Polanski is rescued and replaces Pedro Almodovar in Directing. (Sorry guys, what have you done in this category? (Polansky and Daldry out?)

Copy that. I had to think very hard about my choice. I think Polanski and Almodovar are two of the best nominees this decade, but my viewing of Esther Kahn knocked me on my ass. I was going to replace Julianne Moore for The Hours with Ronit Elkabetz for Late Marriage or Isabelle Huppert for 8 Women, or Ed Harris with Andy Serkis or Alan Arkin, or preserve Nicolas Cage or Michael Caine...but Esther Kahn is the one film I was sure would not see its rightful day here. Talk to Her and The Pianist have already reaped their share fo accolades and can go slightly wanting here.

No. I don't think they've edited the thread title yet.
