My fellow countryman James McAvoy.
You can't deny a man from Glasgow an Oscar nomination. Even though he is a lowlander.

OG, can you include Gordon Pinsent on this list so I can vote for him? I know he wasn't really on the radar but he delivers the performance of the year (I'm sure anyone who saw and liked Away From Her will agree), and I think we can make a case for him since his film received two major nominations (Actress and Screenplay) which is one more nomination than Washington's film, and one more MAJOR nomination than Hirsch's. (and Depp's two. Oh he wasn't snubbed? Well, he should have been)
Pen, re: McAvoy, I agree with you on Depp and even Clooney, but have you seen Mortensen's film? He was wonderful!

Another vote for McAvoy; aside from Day-Lewis and Jones (whose performance I've not seen), he was more deserving of a nomination than any of the others who were actually nominated.
