Golden Globe Predictions Contest
Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest
Yes, okay, I got 9 points. But I also didn’t copy-and-paste everyone else’s choices and decided (for the Globes, at least, since like who cares it’s the Globes) to choose some “no guts no glory” picks.
I won this thing in 2005, I believe, so I’m fine with a dead-last finish this year.
Thanks for adding an historical note to my tally!

Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest
Thanks. I really am surprised I won.
I was really trying to figure out with my selections what kind of group the organization wanted to be. In the end, they did what I expected them to do. The more members, the less outside-the-box they tend to be. It's why I think people who rag on the 300-member-plus Critics Choice Association as being so milquetoast must consider the fact that the larger the body, the less obscure they tend to be. It's why the Hawaii Film Critics Society can be so idiosyncratic (one year, they had only four members).

Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest
Oscar Guy lives up to his name! Congratulations, indeed.
Congratulations to all who played. This one was tougher to get right than it looked. The bonus question was what helped me. I knew there would be no political speeches from the winners. Surprisingly, there was just one from the actors presenting the writing prize which was excellently done.

Only two people, dws1982 and Oscar Guy predicted Cillian Murphy in Best Drama Actor, earning them double points. The answer to the optional bonus question is ZERO so anyone who answered that gets an additional five points. Okay, here are the results! Please do let me know if there are any errors in my calculations.
9 points - flipp525 (I believe this is the first time anyone got single digit points in any of these contests)
15 points - Okri
26 points - Sabin
27 points - CalWilliam, Aceisgreat
29 points - Big Magilla
30 points - dws1982
31 points - Reza
33 points - anonymous1980, mlrg and Mister Tee
35 points - Jefforey Smith
and our 2024 Golden Globes predictions winner with 39 points is...
Oscar Guy!

Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest
It was my runner-up (in our site predictions), but my fault for not going with any for these predictions. I hate being penalized for naming runners-up.

Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest
I keep forgetting to post these. I'm going with a list that's both populist and elitist. The group group in size and the larger a group grows, the more populist it becomes. That said, I think they'll try to make a few statements with their selections, so mine are genuinely all over the place. While I did runner-up predictions on Awards Landscape, I'm going only with winners here.

Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Fixed.Mister Tee wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 9:44 pmMy friend, you seem to have omitted a best director pick (probably because you, like me, worked from the initial post of nominations here, which left the category out).
