Re: NYFCC Winners
I could only take so much of Nope before saying "nope" to it mostly due to Keke Palmer who was annoying as hell.

Re: NYFCC Winners
Joining midstream (damn, Sabin, you were up early today). Overall comment so far: NY can be its historic self, with obvious choices like McDonagh, the Poitras film and Aftersun. It can stray a bit but stay within the margins (I had too many foreign-language efforts to choose from, but EO would have been next in my predictions).
But when they go off the rails, these days it's for vapid Hollywood product. I recognize there wasn't much choice for cinematography this year, but Maverick is for teenage boys who never grew up; a dismal pick. And Keke Palmer has the whiff of "see how cool we are?" to it.
Serious question: am I the only one who barely noticed Ke Huy Quan in Everything Everywhere? I thought he was strictly a blogger fantasy, based on childhood nostalgia. Do people really think he gave some memorable performance? This truly baffles me.
