Yeah...in 1978. Superman won a special achievement Oscar for Visual Effects. Then Batman in 1989, a competitive Oscar for Art Direction. Then The Dark Knight in 2008 for Sound Editing and Supporting Actor...

Actually Manlio Rocchetti, the great Italian make-up artist, won many years ago for Driving Miss Daisy. He died recently by the way, and should honestly be included in the In Memoriam segment.Heksagon wrote:Also, Bertolazzi and Gregorini are the first Italians to ever win this award.
