11:11:11 on 11/11/11 is going to be INSANE!

2010 was a mostly great year for me - in addition to winning my Oscar pool (lol), I also moved out with my longtime girlfriend and married her in the summer. Unfortunately, a week afterwards, my mother's cancer relapsed and she is undergoing further treatment, though thankfully the prognosis is looking positive.

Here is to a healthy and happy 2011 for us all!

Between '10 and '11, these two years have been heavenly for my computer geek wife what with all those combinations of 0s and 1s.

Have a binary new year!

Dare I posit the double rainbow triumvirate of 1/1/11, 1/11/11, AND 11/11/11?!

Enjoy!
What about in 10 days when its gonna be 1-11-11?
Yes, that's an even rarer occurrence. We'll get 2/22/22 eleven years later, but that will be it for eighty years.

Although both my parents went through serious health problems in '10, they pulled through and on balance this was a very satisfying year for me. I'm looking forward to '11. To all of you, Happy New Year! Happy You Near! My best wishes to every one of you.

It would've been a far more unfortunate series of events if he played piano instead of football.

You could probably sympathize with one of my students, Mister Tee. He broke his arm on the first play of the second game of his senior football season. It was his dominant arm, slow to heal, ended his season, ended his shot at playing in college (which meant the difference between a free ride and student loans). And then over Thanksgiving, lifting himself out of bed one morning, he broke it again, had to have surgery which had a very painful and complicated healing process.

He essentially said the same thing as you, that he was hoping the year would end before another bad thing happened. I will say this, though: He handled it all better than many adults would.

I really hope 2011 is much better than 2010 for you and Mrs. Tee.

I'll take it an instant.

2010 was such a ghastly year for me (even by recent standards) that my wife and I felt fortunate to watch the ball fall last night without some new catastrophe intervening.

But we're determined 2011 marks a sharp change in fortune. Very best wishes to all here for a year, in Lennon's well-known phrase, "without any tears".

Went to bed at 4:00 and got up before and I'm feeling the effects already. I'd take a nap if I didn't have to watch Alabama try to salvage their disappointing season in their bowl game in about an hour.

2010 was a great year for me, the best year I've had in a long time. I hope everyone can have a 2011 as good as my 2010.
