Re: Coming DVDs
Warners can't release enough films monthly to satisfy me. I have over 200 titles I'm waiting for them to release to I usually have a tinge of disappointment when they announce their monthly releases because generally if I'm lucky there will be something for me. The latest announcements - zilch for m...

I do recommend reading the article on The Guardian below though it is profoundly disturbing and upsetting it is one of many stories that must be told:

Re: Coronavirus and the Oscars
Dune has been pushed back 12 months and I can't deny that I'm disappointed because it is the only tentpole film from this year that I was actually looking forward to. The only tentpole film still schedules for release this year is Wonder Woman 1984 and there is no doubt that Warners will delay it. D...

R.I.P. Johnny Nash
If his only claim to fame was 'I Can See Clearly Now' he would more than earned his place in the history books:

Re: The Official Review Thread of 2020
Slow, slow, slow which was surprising giving the number of characters crudely dispatched one by one as the film drags it's heels. My partner thought it was the worst film he has seen all year until I made a very convincing case for Military Wives as the dud of 2020 (so far).

Re: List of submissions to the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film
I was disappointed in A Sun. I thought is started out so well, and yes Edward Yang crossed my mind as well but it took too many turns into ever increasing tragedy and melodrama. Worth noting for prospective viewers is that the film clock in at just over 2.5 hours. It's beautifully photographed and a...

Werk Ohne Autor / Never Look Away (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, 2018) 4/10 Monsoon (Hong Khaou, 2019 3/10 Ouch for Never Look Away but I concede it's a tad overlong and becomes less interesting as it progresses. And ouch for Monsoon - I've been looking forward to Monsoon for so long. I missed ...

Re: Coming DVDs
I'll pass on Coppola's 'restored' version of The Godfather Part 3 just like I passed on his most recent fiddling of Apocalypse Now. I prefer the original theatrical cut of AN and I'll stick with that. I've always wanted to revisit the three Godfather films. I had them on DVD, replaced them with the ...

Re: Coronavirus and the Oscars
The new James Bond movie release date has been postponed from November to April 2021 Along with many industries at the moment I wouldn't want to be running a major Hollywood studio. They are in a no-win situation and Tenet as exhibit one and Mulan as exhibit two. After those experiments the studios...

Re: Last Seen Movie - The Latest Movie You Have Seen; ratings
I haven't tackled The Devil All the Time yet. The last thing I attempted to watch before The Boys in the Band was Enola Holmes, a godawful mess with an unbearable central performance and a total waste of usually very good actors in support. I've never seen a film in which the breaking of the fourth...

I watched the new version last night, one of the few recent Netflix additions I was able to get all the way through without being bored out of my skull. Film wise Netflix makes such a huge amount of garbage and they are putting up their prices from next month. Have you attempted The Devil All the T...

Re: R.I.P. Helen Reddy
Just to be contrarian, I'll say I thought she had as bland a voice as any 70s pop star. Just compare Yvonne Elliman's rendition of I Don't Know How to Love Him to hers -- Elliman is full of emotion; Reddy sounds like she's phoning it in. Ditto with Delta Dawn vis a vis Bette Midler. I truly never u...
