Where's Thelma and Louise, my favorite of his work. Twelve Monkeys is overblown but fun, everything else fairly uninteresting (although he is the best thing about Fight Club...not sure if that is a compliment or not).

I agree with all the others just how difficult this is, for a different reason though. I realized attempting this just how shoddy my viewing of past Oscar nominees has been. Before about 1985, I haven't seen a lot of the "worse" winners (maybe I'm lucky there), and in any given category I...

While I probably would have given the award to River Phoenix, I am a supporter of Kevin Kline's Oscar. A fine actor in top form, in one of my favorite film comedies of the eighties. Haven't seen Jackson.

I'm having no problem filling categories, it is just in some categories I am having trouble which was the most egrigious rob. There are a handful of times where there is an awful winner and two fabulous winner...ah, who to choose?

Can we vote for the same win twice? For instance, could I vote for Nicole Kidman winning over Julianne Moore, and then vote again for her winning over Renee Zellwegger?

Magilla, you should check her out in Dick. A very funny, underrated movie, with fabulous performances by Williams, Kirsten Dunst and Dan Hedaya in hilarious Richard Nixon impersonation.

Bruce, Love the choice of Erika Christensen, a nominee in my list too for the year...a fabulous performance, unfortunately overlooked by most everyone else.

Maybe it was the fact that I have only seen A Place in the Sun, several years ago, and the similarities didn't strike me during the movie. I don't know...I also have never really been bothered by filmmakers borrowing from other films before, either, so it could be a personal taste thing.

Penelope, I too noticed the strong parallels to A Place in the Sun, but Allen has always been known to borrow and reflect from other artists works...why should this be any difference? Perhaps my love of Woody Allen got in the way, but I thought this was one of the best films of the year, second pro...

Still have lots to see, but here's how I see it now. 1 and 2 are so close, they could flip places at any moment. 3-6 are all pretty wonderful choices also...all in all, a great year, and still more to come:) 1. Brokeback Mountain (dir: Ang Lee, USA) 2. Match Point (dir: Woody Allen, USA) 3. Good Ni...

I'm with Damien here. I too am very skeptical about the broad success of the film...outside of film circles like this board, I haven't talked to many people who know much about the movie, or are overly excited about it...does anyone know what kind of release schedule it has (is it going wide immedi...
