While the revival has its merits I think, like the production itself, it is only interesting to those who have seen and cherish the original, and enjoy the new interpretation of it. Stick with the original recording. However, if you are willing to spend the few bucks extra, the Symphonic Recording ...

A few that haven't been mentioned... If you like Mame so much, check out Jerry Herman's other masterpieces: Hello Dolly, Mack and Mable and La Cage Aux Folles. The middle one is especially required for a film buff as yourself. I am a big fan of the music of William Finn: A New Brain, Falsettos/Fals...

I'll chime in with my disgust of Batman Begins, and also that I could see Brandon Routh as a VERY OUTSIDE contender for Best Actor. It all depends on how the film is recieved. Plus, I thought Cillian Murphy was the one who got most of the positive reviews for Batman Begins. Maybe that was just that...

I made a Theatre Trek to NYC a few weeks ago with my sister and managed to see three of this years nominees...Sweeney Todd, Threepenny Opera and Awake and Sing. All three were pretty fascinating revivals of well-loved pieces, but all three also had their flaws as well. Sweeney Todd: The first-half ...

You missed Roger Deakins, who will probably be nominated for either The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (easily the best movie title in years, maybe since personal favorite Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia) or Hail Caesar (if it is out by then). He will also probably be th...

Congratulations Nik...I wish you and your beloved the best, and hope that the day will come soon enough that you two can come to America as spouses, not partners. I'm sure not soon enough for you though:)

Paul Newman didn't have a nomination in the 1970s. Nicholson is one answer...I have no idea who the other is.

OMG...that was even worse than I feared it would be. I was all excited about Rob Lowe's return to The West Wing next week, but now fear I won't be able to watch it with a straight face.

I think Shakespeare and Eternal are fantastic choices, and deserve to be there. Forrest Gump, Rocky, Field of Dreams, The Princess Bride and Jerry Maguire, on the other hand, should not be here. And there are lots of other films here that are very good, but not necessarialy for their scripts. Tripp

The story, as I have always heard it, was that after Town Without Pity, Pitney was hired to sing the theme for the movie. As they were recording the song, Pitney made some reference that it was going to be the theme song to a movie by the same name. One of the band members remarked that that was od...
