It is strange how Williams suddenly picked up so many votes

Re: Biggest Oscar Disappointments ( Supporting Actor 90-99)

I dont think any of these actors deserved to win in all honestly. Gene Hackman and Martin Landau largely deserved their Oscars

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1936

For some reason I was hoping we would start backwards from 2010 lol.

Re: Best Actor 2010

Jesse Eisenberg gets my vote. Its the performance out of these nominations that gets better each time you watch it. Firth was better in a Single Man, Franco was better in Howl, but not nomination worthy in either, Bardem was the best thing about his film but didnt desreve to be nominated, and Bridge...

Re: Best Actor 2009

Colin Firth gets my vote, far more deserving here than in The King Speech. Im not upset with Bridges win though, hes one of the most consistent and great actors and deserved his recogition, plus his performance was really great aswell, so natural.

Re: Best Actor 2008

Penn gets my vote. Im usually not a fan of his acting, but his performances in this and Dead Man Walking were deserving of the Oscar. Hes amazing here though, its so unlike anything he had done before and he pulls it off brilliantly. Rourke is a very close runner up though

Re: Best Actor 2007

Daniel Day-Lewis- There Will Be Blood. I can definately understand the criticisms of him being over the top, but he does have some truely powerful moments in the movie. Its between him and Casey Affleck for my Best Actor win

Re: Best Supporting Actress 2010

Am I the only one that was really underwhelmed by Jackie Weaver in Animal Kingdom, I heard all the praise and she even won some critics awards, but I was so underwhelmed with this performance, I cant believe the hype. She was decent enough, but its a role any good enough actress could have pulled, s...

Re: Best Actor 2006

I agree with Sabin on Gosling, you can see the effort in a lot of his performances sometimes but he is the best here in my opinion. Its his most natural and spontaneous performance

Re: Thoughts on Anthony Hopkins?

I heard some good things about Magic, I was always a little underwhelmed with his Emmy award winning performances too

Thoughts on Anthony Hopkins?

There seems to be some mixed opinions on him as of late, but I do somewhat agree with those opinions, but I just wanted to catch your guys thoughts on his acting ability? I do find him widly inconsistent particularly as of late where he pretty much scenery chews through his roles, but his run in the...

Re: Best Actor 2005

Heath Ledger- Brokeback Mountain, in my opinion this is the only Oscar he ever deserved, moreso than his overrated work in The Dark Knight

Hoffman was really great in Capote, but as an actor he often leaves me cold

Re: Best Actor 2004

Sorry to mention this here because it doesnt seem like the thread to mention this but after the Best Actor polls are done (which will be pretty soon) are we moving onto the supporting actor ones? We are going to do Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress 2010 polls before we move onto Best Support...

Re: Best Actor 2004

Terrible line up considering who they could have nominated such as Neeson in Kinsey, Giamatti in Sideways, Kevin Bacon in The Woodsman, Javier Bardem in The Sea Inside. Of thie group I go with Eastwood, its no where near his Unforgiven performance but it is a much more authentic and heartfelt perfor...
