I loved it. I haven't seen the original and I've only seen Cache and Piano Teacher as far as Hanake goes. I thought Naomi Watts was at the top of her game and reminiscent of her work in Mulholland Drive after what I consider a couple of disasters (Painted Veil, The Ring Two). Michael Pitt was fanta...

Three of these landed on top of their respective years: American Beauty, The Departed, and Million Dollar Baby. I went with American Beauty.

To answer an older question, I did enjoy Helen Mirren's performance, but that year she was second to Judi Dench for Notes on a Scandal, IMO.

Pickpockets bored me. Proves the academy is stupid for cute kids. Tanghi Argentini and At Night were better.

Tough choice between Arkin and Clooney, who seemed to have reverted to his "head down-eyes up" style of brooding, *cough*, I mean acting. But ultimately I went with Arkin, who was nothing more than LMS's consolation prize (IMO, Screenplay was not quite sewn up). Also, I don't care for LMS...

I thought I would post how my group at work did with the Oscars. Some categories we were 100% (due in part I think to my ramblings about not taking as many chances I as usually do), and some were embarassingly low... Perfect 100%: Best Picture-No Country for Old Men Best Actor-Daniel Day Lewis Best...

I agree about Juno, but Ellen Page especially. Other pisser-offers:

Ruby Dee
There Will Be Blood only winning one Oscar
Ratatouille winning for Score or Sound
The Tonto Woman or My Love in the shorts
Falling Slowly losing

And no matter what Diablo Cody says, I know it will piss me off.

I saw the shorts yesterday. Kind of a muddled bunch if you ask me. The only one that stood out that I was excited about was I Met The Walrus. Of the Live-Action choices, Tanghi Argentini was my favorite, scoring a B. My least favorites were My Love and The Tonto Woman. Pickpockets and pigeons were ...
