Yes, you should. Season 4 (the last one) is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen made for television, right on par with The Sopranos.

If you haven’t seen any episode yet bear in mind that season 3 is somewhat disappointing.

Re: Honorary Oscars

the Academy twisted their rules for obvious reasons. Just as they have now done with Bassett and earlier with Euzhan Palcy. All "desperate" choices when more deserving individuals could have been recognised instead. Absolutely. Palcy’s choice was appalling and Basset’s can even be conside...

Re: Honorary Oscars

I think it's dumb to give an Honorary Oscar to a man who has two Oscars (IMDb doesn't list it, but he has a Short Film Oscar from the 60's; he's talked about it in interviews) already and is an EGOT winner. I get it with Bassett, although it does feel a little bit like, "we're sorry about Supp...

Re: Honorary Oscars

In what world is Angela Basset more deserving than Glenn Close, Harrison Ford, Catherine Deneuve, Claire Denis, Ridley Scott, Ed Harris, etc… etc… it really looks like an apology award

Re: Best Picture and Director 1977

A bit of trivia (if I’m not mistaken): with only 9 different films 1977 has the lowest number of films nominated for best picture plus the acting categories. On a side note: back in November 2003 when I was travelling to Brazil and still recovering from jet lag I caught up Looking for Mr Goodbar com...

Re: Best Picture and Director 1977

Mister Tee wrote Well, funny: My first thought was, God, no, they were preferences -- I'd never have predicted that ragtag bunch. But then, I checked other books, and found I'd predicted 4 of the 5 (had Karen Lynn Gorney, also from Saturday Night Fever, in place of Anne Wedgworth). It was a slim pi...

Re: 2023 Emmy Awards

Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook will be submitting themselves in the Lead categories this year for Succession . Has any show ever had three leading actors nominated in the same year? Because there’s no chance in hell that Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin don’t get nominated for Succession

Only one story that truly mattered while the board was down. Re: Best Screenplay 1995

Leaving Las Vegas had a huge influence in me when I first watched it in June 1996 at the age of seventeen. My father was an alcoholic who drank himself to homelessness and consequently death just three years before I’ve seen the film so when Cage’s character says to Sera “you can never ask me to sto...

This is a very cool feature.

I think we all speak and write English fairly well. I sometimes struggle to write but no need to add any other language, at least for me.

But thank you for your asking.

Re: Notable Firsts and Records

Michelle Yeoh is now the second Bond girl to win the Best Actress Oscar after Halle Berry. Add an asterisk for Kim Basinger. I had a feeling I was forgetting someone although my comment was correct as Basinger was the first Bond girl to win but in the supporting category. Although Basinger should n...
