Una Giornata Particolare (1977) - Ettore Scola 10/10 I just finished watching this and I'm totally blown away by it. Such a simple film with such complex and rich characters. Both Mastroianni and Loren are magnificient, and she was totally robbed of a nomination. If you've never seen this, it shoul...

You could have chosen something easier...

Haven't seen any of the nominees, so I'll pass
So, you're using one of your passes to preserve the winner?

Fat City (1972) - John Huston

6/10

Interesting little film about lonelyness with a theatrical mood to it. Stacy Keach and Susan Tyrrel are goo in it.

My thoughts exactly. This is what I felt while watching the film.

Cabaret (1972) - Bob Fosse

7/10

I had great expectations for this one but was rather dissapointed with the film as a whole. The dance sequences are beatifully directed and the best part of the film. Michael York is miscast in my opinion.

Interiors (1978) - Woody Allen

7.5/10

Another great screenplay by Woody Allen with tremendous performances by Maureen Stapleton, E.G. Marshall and specially Geraldine Page, who should have won best supporting actress for this.

Trip to Bountiful (1985) - Peter Masterson

6.5/10

I always thought that Geraldine Page won her oscar fo this as a "make-up" oscar for her previous losses, but she really gives a truly heartbreaking performance.

The Sunshine Boys (1975) - Herbert Ross

3/10

It's agonizing how I tryed to find a second of this film to be funny, and couldn't. George Burns winning the oscar for this is the only real joke here.

Street Smart (1987) - Jerry Schatzberg

7/10

Was positevly surprised by this one, as I was expecting another mid 80's trashy movie. Morgan Freeman fully deserved his nomination and I think Kathy Baker was totally robbed of an oscar nomination (and possible win).
