Where does the Christian Rock+MuteMath association come from?
New Air?! I quite liked Talkie-Walkie.

Of the full-length films...I am kind of up the point where I've seen all I'm planning on - having caught Venus and Pan's Labyrinth this week. May see if I get around to it: (haven't seen any of the docs) After The Wedding Days Of Glory Curse Of The Golden Flower Will see when they are on TV: Dreamg...

Oh man. Someone I work with has dowloaded a copy of the new Arcade Fire CD, Neon Bible, and I am listening to it now. Whew, it is amazing. I can't wait for March 6 when it gets into the stores. They are incredible, and continue to get better with each release. I am going to have to quit my job; too...

I think that I was distracted by the speculation that Leonardo Dicaprio would split the vote and miss out on a nomination. What I am thinking now is that he is a man of principles who didn't want to be nominated for BA if his talented co-star, Matt Damon, wasn't going to be there as well (a la Curt...

I believe that movies have a magic to them. Okay, some do. Board members may understand this but the general public who would rather rent a DVD than go to the theatre don't get it. So in that vein I voted for Field Of Dreams. When I first saw it and even up to the last time I watched it on TV I had...

Chungking Express...oops...wishful thinking. I mean Secrets And Lies. The people (non board members of course) who complained bitterly about The English Patient being boring etc. - even on Seinfeld as I recall - did not see it on it's opening weekend. It was a deserved BP winner. Very few movies li...

Hugh Grant's omission in the Best Actor race was the Oscars at their most infuriating. Pulp Fiction. Just watched it again yesterday. As much as I loath John Revolta he is brilliant as Vincent Vega. As I was watching I wondered who would have picked up the number five slot if Tom Hanks and FG had f...

In regards to Oscar And Lucinda...loved the film but I really did not like the book. Last Orders almost made the following list. Okay, I live to make lists so I must wade in here. Top 10 books, 2006 1. A Sunday At The Pool In Kigali (Gil Courtemanche 2004) 2. The Tipping Point (Malcolm Gladwell 200...

Here is my top ten post... I have never experienced a year where I was so ambivalent about going to see movies. I think I saw perhaps three films in the first six months of the year. On the other hand I have been renting up a storm, mostly pre-2006. There are several late-season films that have not...

I finally broke down and ordered 'A Farewell To Arms' (1932) from Amazon. I couldn't ignore the price, $6. I was wary because of the fact that it is not a studio issue. Neither of the DVD rental places that I frequent had a copy so I took a chance. The quality of the print is a lot better that I wa...
