definitely one of the gay literature classics. Plus Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin? Haven't read The City And The Pillar for years and I don't recall much, other than enjoying it. The only Vonnegut I have on my bookshelf is Deadeye Dick (1982). There are two Vonnegut quotes that I have remembered...

1985 was the year of two of my top movies of the 80's (Shoah and Come And See , Come And See is the most disturbing film I have ever seen. And I saw it on the big screen (2001). The scene where the two characters are walking - neck high - through the swamp is the stuff of my nightmares! My choice w...

After a long absence Tracey Thorn, one half of Everything But The Girl, has released a solo album, Out Of The Woods. Being a huge EBTG fan I am thrilled. The album features a variety of patented EBTG styles. Both her myspace site and traceythorn.com feature a chance to listen to the music as well a...

I see that Colour Me Kubrick (2005) is finally getting released. I saw it last fall at the local Film Fest and quite enjoyed it. (3.5* out of 5) It was scheduled to play three times during the festival but eventually had five screenings due to demand. Here is the write-up from viff.org.... Anthony ...

Wow! Wasn't expecting those type of stats.
As much as I like the Kaiser Chiefs the AF CD is much better, but doesn't have the catchy single that the Chiefs have.
I just love the album, don't hesitate to pick it up.

The Vancouver Courier, March 07, 2007 Ed Wood's final film discovered at Venus Theatre By Adrian Mack You wouldn't know it from Tim Burton's 1994 biopic, but the most intriguing part of Ed Wood Jr's life came after Plan 9 from Outer Space. With little else except a bottle and a typewriter that went...

Now you should read Isaac's Storm, Erik Larson's 1999 book about the hurricane that swept over Galveston in 1900.

Another first: This could be the first time that a film with more than 1 nomination receives no other awards besides best picture (Babel). . But wouldn't the members of AMPAS think about that? That would be look rather ridiculous, right? But if they are seriously planning on voting for Babel then i...

I am wonderfing if Babel and Departed AND Little Miss Sunshine split the vote, will it go to The Queen? I am seriously thinking that this is the year that the vote splitting theory may actually come into play. And I also believe that The Queen could be the most likely beneficiary. Having seen all f...

Main and 14th. I was so disappointed when The Ridge theatre changed from a second-run double-bill theatre to over-priced first-run. Last year for me was the result - I went to see about three movies before Oscar season eventually began! I cannot always get to movies when they first come out and I r...

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
The Simpsons Movie

I can't believe that I am actually going to see two movies this summer! Usually I steer clear.

What everyone should be looking forward to is The Host. S. Korean monster movie that is quite well done.

I was discussing the final HP volume with a Potter fan, who I work with. He is convinced that as Harry collects Voldemort's 'horcruxes' - to be destroyed - he will discover that the final one will turn out to be the mark on his own forehead and will have to kill himself in order to complete his tas...
