I'm currently reading Tony Judt's Postwar: History of Europe Since 1945. Great so far.

I've read Devil in the White City. Great book.

Examples: despite wild critical enthusiasm for LA Confidential in 97, the jury -- which gave about four main prizes that year -- shut the film out

Didn't LA Confidental play out of competition?

I wouldn't be surprised if Climates got the Palme D'Or.

At least my "John Lloyd Young has won everything comment" didn't invite the irony fairies out to laugh at me.

I liked alot of The Corrections, but, man, if I could have bodily torn out those talking-turd pages, I would have. Seriously. What rot that was. It rallied for a good ending, but the entire cruise sequence made me want to heave the book overboard (bad pun fully intended). dws, if it's any consolati...

He also won the Theatre World Award, but so did Bob Martin. I've spent so much time at www.talkingbroadway.com, that it feels like Young is a lock for the win - it feels like he hasn't lost anything yet, but that statement is actually meaningless, so my bad.

I actually think Lupone has a strong chance to win, and I'd be predicting her now. She took on a strong role and put her own stamp on it (basically, the entire production put on a strong stamp). She's a veteran of what may be the closest Tony race ever (Joanna Gleason vs Patti Lupone, 1988). And do...

I'm quite looking forward to seeing how Joe Wright handles Atonement. I love McFadden, but I was stunned at the praise he got (I really like him in MI-5).

Sonic, the same thing was done with Alan Bennet's last New York success - The Madness of King George.

I've read the play, and it's really quite good.

I will never understand how Joyce Carol Oates has received the level of acclaim she has. Is it simply because she writes A LOT? I don't get it. I enjoy her works, but she has attained legendary status and I don't think she's earned it. Okay, I've attempted Foucault's The History of Sexuality before...
