I'm a long way from having a list I'm remotely happy with but Precious Doll, I love your placement of Moon Bloodgood, who will make my final list for sure with her lovely performance. It's currently Trintignant and Riva heading the list for me with Hawkes and Hunt as very honourable runners-up, but I love all four performances enough to understand your dilemma.

I'm still tinkering with mine. There are several films I want to see over again before coming to a final decision. At this point waiting for the DVDs to come out is my best option. Flight releases here next Tuesday (2/5); Skyfall and The Sessions the following week (2/12) along with two I haven't seen - The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Kid With a Bike. Argo and Anna Karenina are out 2/19. The only other one I really need to re-visit is The Master which doesn't release here until two days after the Oscars (2/26).

Life of Pi and Hitchcock have a release date of 3/12 and Zero Dark Thirty streets on 3/19 . Lincoln; Les Misérables; Rust and Bone; Amour; Silver Linings Playbook; The Impossible and The Intouchables(the latter two which I haven't seen) do not have release dates yet. Rust and Bone has a Region 2 (UK) release date of 2/25 and Amour a Region 2 (UUK) release date of 3/18.

It's never too early to start this thread.

I have a slight problem this year in that I am very divided on my best actor and best actress choice. As a result I'm splitting those particular awards. It's 9 months since I have seen Amour and 6 months since The Sessions and with both of them due out on Blu Ray in March I intend to watch them back to back and make a final choice on the best lead actor/actress. So for now here is goes...

Best Film

1.Amour
2. The Sessions
3. Holy Motors
4. Paradise: Love
5. Dead Europe

Best Director

1. Michael Haneke for Amour
2. Ben Lewin for The Sessions
3. Leos Carax for Holy Motors
4. Ulrich Seidl for Paradise: Love
5. Tony Krawitz for Dead Europe

Best Actor

1. John Hawkes for The Sessions
= Jean-Louis Trintignant for Amour
3.Ewen Leslie for Dead Europe
4. Denis Levant for Holy Motors
5. Jeremie Renier for Cloclo

Best Actress

1. Helen Hunt for The Sessions
= Emmanuelle Riva for Amour
3. Margarete Tiesel for Paradise: Love
4. Debra Mailman for The Sapphires
5. AnnaLynne McCord for Excision

Best Supporting Actor

1. Ben Mendelsohn for Killing Them Softly
2. Samuel L Jackson for Django Unchained
3. Leonardo DiCaprio for Django Unchained
4. Ray Liotta for Killing Them Softly
5. William H Macy for The Sessions

Best Supporting Actress

1. Traci Lords for Excision
2. Ann Dowd for Compliance
3. Ivy Makk for Careless Love
4. Moon Bloodgood for The Sessions
5. Robin Weigert for The Sessions
