Or maybe they actually thought the film deserved its sweep? And why not? After all the film and the actors are all being mentioned by all the critics groups on their lists of nominations. So why the suspicion?
I don't know if the recipients attended or not. Their website hasn't been updated, but typically their selections are not a reliable predictor of the Oscars. Last year they had ten nominees in each of the acting categories and gave the directing award and three of the four awards to people who were not nominated for Oscars - Ryan Gosling, Albert Brooks, Jessica Chastain for Tree of Life, not The Help. Nicholas Winding Refn won Best Director for Drive, The Descendants won for Best Picture and Terrence Malick, who I don't think anyone expected to show up, won for Best Original Screenplay.

To my knowledge the Satellites have never been televised. Perhaps you're thinking of the ghastly Broadcast Critics Awards.

Were these actually broadcast on television? I seem to recall that last year's show was such a complete shit-fest, it was almost painful to watch.

This is what happened last year - I ended up actually calling their office and getting them to e-mail me the PDF before they released it, their servers had gone down.
