Waltz is outstanding

I went with the consensus on this one. Waltz resurrected Conrad Veidt to a fare-thee-well in the biggest breakthrough performance of a middle-aged actor since Sydney Greenstreet in The Maltese Falcon.

It's a dead heat between Christian McKay and Christoph Waltz for me.

The outstanding Christian McKay. Distant runners up in my estimation are James Gandolfini for Where the Wild Things Are, Peter Capaldi for In the Loop, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty for The Hurt Locker, and Waltz.

Why is Rupert Friend here? I hadn't heard of his performance in that movie I avoided like the plague.

Anthony Mackie.

I have seen all the listed performances except McKay and Plummer. Waltz's performance reminds me of Hopkins in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS: not the best acting ever, but certainly a very fun performance that people really enjoy.

Voted for Anthony Mackie in The Hurt Locker, but Sergey Markovetsky in 12 would probably be my pick overall. Also excellent were Sergey Garmash in 12, Brian Geraghty in The Hurt Locker, Evan Martin and Daryl Sabara in World's Greatest Dad, and Jeremie Renier in Lorna's Silence and Summer Hours.

Once again, this is poll is for who we think should win this year's Best Supporting Actor Oscar, not who we think [i[will[/i] win.
