Horrible lineup. I would've abstained this year if I were an Oscar voter.

I voted Working Girl, and I don't even like that too much.

I'll abstain until I see Mississippi Burning. I like the other four, but don't love any of them. Where are Running on Empty, Last Temptation of Christ, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Unbearable Lightness of Being?

Toss up between 'Dangerous Liaisons' or 'Rain Man'. The former is probably superior, but 'Rain Man' gets a bum rap. Hoffman's performance is hugely overrated, but the film is very entertaining. Shame they opted for 'The Accidental Tourist' and 'Mississippi Burning' over the heart-wrenching 'Running on Empty'.

Mississippi Burning

Superb acting and directing, powerful story.

I'm frighteningly in sync with Magilla here -- wavered among the same three films, and thought The Unbearable Lightness of Being was the finest movie of the whole dreary 80s.

Liked them all though none were as memorable as The Unbearable Lightness of Being or Dead Rigners. Today I voted for Rain Man. Yesterday it might have been Dangerous Liaisons and tomorrow The Accidental Tourist. Not a year I feel strongly about one way or another.
