I don't hate The Social Network. I just think it's aboring little movie whivh could have been about so much and ultimately is about nothing much at all.Bog wrote:Well Damien, let me tell you, you sure are unpredictable...I still think you're better than thisDamien wrote:Actually King's Speech is currently my number 8 movie of the year
I'm blaming your hatred of the Social Network and its juggernaut status at the point you saw The King's Speech, admittedly an uplifting, albeit foolish film.
*For my sanity, I'm praying it finally finds itself no better than 38th when your "year in film" finally culminates.

That's brilliant. I knew Hooper reminded me of someone, I just couldn't place whom.Franz Ferdinand wrote:My friends and I commented on this last night, has anybody else thought this?
Tom Hooper is a British clone of James Cameron from 20 years ago.
Correspondingly,
Tom Hooper is James Cameron's avatar.
Were we alone in this observation?

Actually King's Speech is currently my number 8 movie of the year, though I have about 30 more to go before I call it a year. Social Network is some where in the 50s.Bog wrote:Not hooray though, if the Oscar has to go to mediocrity that wasn't fucked up....Damien wrote:and hooray for King's Speech, the second best of the 10 Best Picture nominees.
You, Damien, found it to be the second best of the nominees, which for you I'm sure would make it about the 30th film down just your specific list for 2010...named best picture and director....not hooray

Not just that, but there were still the two main acting awards (which were as obvious as possible) to sit through, knowing that this thing would win the big prize. I was ready to just give up.anonymous wrote:The Academy was such a fucking cockteaser.
I thought the fact The King's Speech lost all the technical awards and The Social Network's win in Score, the night was gonna swing the latter's way.
Then this happened.
