Well, my employers didn't want us "crashing" the system, so I had to stop watching it on the internet and moved to the antenna'd TV where most everyone in the office watched it.
I missed parts of the speech when the Republicans in the room decided they wanted to comment on stuff inappropriately, so I didn't get to hear it all. I thought it was a strong speech.

So, did anyone else watch the concert yesterday? I found it mostly a glorious wallow of happiness -- culminating wonderfully in Seeger and Springsteen singing This Land Is Your Land with the subversive verses (the ones you didn't learn in grade-school sing-along) intact. Somewhere, Sarah Palin was saying, I TOLD you these guys were socialists!
Jamie Foxx can be credited with the first halfway successful Obama impression to date.
When Marisa Tomei walked out, I thought, who'd have guessed in the "Jack Palance read it wrong" days that she'd ever be important enough to attend an event like this? It was odd, however, that they had her read a quote from Reagan about helping the little guy...not a sentiment generally associated with the Gipper. Okay, we'll be generous for a day or so.
25 hours and counting.

I don't know if anyone else here did this; but, I entered an essay contest on what the inauguration meant to you through the change.gov site to win an all-expense-paid trip to the inauguration. I didn't win and it was extremely competative, with only 10 winners from over 250,000 submissions. Also, from glancing over a few of the winning entries, they seem to have chosen people writing about their personal experiences while I wrote from my observation of what is currently going on in the world. I just hope no scandal breaks out from people lying about themselves in order to get a free trip.
Tips for any visitors coming to Washington, D.C. (if anyone is actually heading down this way for the Inauguration)...
