Haven't decided yet what to do about my old film magazines yet Reza.

I will hold onto Film Comment & Films and Filming which I have going back to January 1970.

Others I have are Monthly Film Bulletin/Sight and Sound, American Film, Cinefantastque which specialised in horror & sci-fi, two of my least favourite genres but their early editions of the magazine where excellent, Cinema Papers, Films Illustrated (I remember being really bummed when that ceased publication in 1981) and some other short lived magazines from the 1980s.

I've also culled out about 300 books and lots of framed movie posters. Haven't decided what to do with all my old film magazines which I virtually never refer to and my lobby card collection.

Which magazines? Wish I had known you were selling your books. Would have been interested in them if they were movie related.

I do think streaming for will be inevitable. It's something that I will have to look into sometime in the future.

Precious, what are your thoughts on streaming? I'm not an Oscar completist by any means (the number of actual "great" films I haven't seen discourages me from seeing a lot of dross) but I'm finding Filmstruck/Fandor/Mubi/Netflix to be invaluable.

Hopefully, the pace will pick up.

And talking of DVD's my local DVD shop is closing doors. I've been renting from the same place since it opened in 1983 and they used to get pretty much stock just about everything released.

There are still a couple of DVD shops left so a few suburbs away which means I will have to change my routine and use public transport (yuk) to get to them but my viewing of newer releases is going to drop to some degree. On the bright side, more time to review all my favourites from the collection but the days of being an 'Oscar completist' may be coming to an end. I won't go to the cinema to view something like Wonder Woman and I won't buy it on DVD either.

Yes, but how long is it going to take? Maurice is only their second Merchant/Ivory release. Their first was Howards End last December. That's nine months between releases.

Un film comme les autres [A Film Like Any Other]: An analysis of the social upheaval of May 1968 made in the immediate wake of the workers’ and students’ protests. The picture consists of two parts, each with with identical image tracks, and differing narration.
British Sounds, aka: See You at Mao: An examination of the daily routine at a British auto factory assembly line, set against class-conflict and The Communist Manifesto.
Vent d’est [Wind from the East]: A loosely conceived leftist-western that moves through a series of practical and analytical passages (“an organization of shots,” Godard called it) into a finale based around the process of manufacturing homemade weapons.
Lotte in Italia / Luttes en Italie [Struggles in Italy]: Not necessarily a film about the struggles in Italy — largely shot, in fact, in Godard and Anne Wiazemsky’s home at the time — this is a discursive reflection on a young Italian woman’s shift from political “theory” to political “practice” and, at the same time, a self-questioning of its own practice and theories.
Vladimir et Rosa [Vladimir and Rosa]: A searing and satirical comic-reportage on the trial of the Chicago Eight, featuring Juliet Berto and Godard and Gorin themselves.
