First – I'm honored. Second - as a kid I was actually totally taken with that Belgian nun Sœur Sourire's song Dominique, and The Sound of Music was a major factor in making me who I am. A movies lover, that is. So though I totally don't get them, having some nuns for my birthday would be lovely.Damien wrote:Happy Birthday -- you share a birthday with my Mom.
I've gathered up a gaggle of nuns here and they're singing "Happy Birthday" in your honour.
Now, I'm going through my Meryl-in-It's-Complicated phase these days. No, it's not about being torn between Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, thank you very much. Just like La Streep, I'm building a totally unnecessary addition to my house right now (and incidentally it has the same layout as hers – a new kitchen and a study downstairs, a bedroom upstairs, only less, way less grand). Anyway, I went out to the yard in the dark this evening and as it happened the workers left there this pile they're using for mixing cement, so I capped my birthday non existing festivities flat on my face, with a bruised calf and an aching shoulder. Being 48 is just lovely. And at this age hilling takes longer time, doesn't it?
Anyway, you're all very kind – and I enjoyed spending this day here with you. And since my birthday is just about to end in my neck of the wood, I'll bid you goodnight and goodbye in the most fitting way, imagining myself to be one of the Von Trapp kids.
