Is it the writer or the 96 year-old singer who thinks he actually sang these songs from movies in those movies? He wasn't in To each His Own. The lyrics to the song were written to the film's theme after it came out. Al Martino (no relation) sang it in The Godfather a quarter century later.

Tony Martin, 96, Returning To Stage

8 January 2009 1:38 AM, PST

At the age of 96, Tony Martin, who starred in numerous Hollywood musicals in the 1940s and '50s, is returning to live performances, opening tonight (Thursday) at the Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, the San Francisco Chronicle reported today. The newspaper, which indicated that Martin's singing voice has remarkably been unaffected by age, said that Martin plans to perform many of the hit songs from his movies, including "To Each His Own," "I Get Ideas," "I Hear a Rhapsody," "La Vie en Rose" and "There's No Tomorrow." His desire to return to work, the newspaper indicated, came following the death of dancer Cyd Charisse, his wife of 65 years, last year. Often referred to as the last of Hollywood's actor-singers, Martin told the Chronicle that he doesn't accept the description and points out that Hugh Jackman is doing what he once did.
