It would've been funnier for Pacino to present the award with Danny De Vito - then they could've set up a joke about "saying hello to my little friend."

Pfeiffer was announced as a presenter. They were supposed to be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Scarface. Godfather II won't be 50 years old until next December.
