a performer will sweep the season if a) the performance is magnificent b) the category is weak and there is no real competition

I tend to think that Randolph fits in category b)

Are you talking about all groups of these minor critics groups? Because Franz Rogowski winning Best Actor isn't a week old.
I was referring to this group, and the likely dozen or more that will vote almost this exact same slate. (Though the Michigan group threw out some variety.) The classic critics' groups are in a totally different category.
