I'm very tardy in commenting on this. My connection to Kundera is strictly one-dimensional: like many in the mid-80s, I read (and loved) The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I also saw (and equally loved) Kaufman's film version. I'd put it up as the strongest quality-match of any great book to great movie.
Don't know why I never got around to reading any more of his work. Perhaps I ought to remedy that in the years I have remaining.
Anyway, a salute to a splendid writer at his passing.
