If I felt EEAAO was the very best picture of the year why would I not also vote for it as best pop pic, as well, unless I wanted to spread the wealth.

Wouldn't it more likely be the other way around?

Best Popular Film Oscar - What if?

Post by Eenusch »

Imganine the clusterfuck if AMPAS had gone through with its Best Popular Film Oscar proposal of a few years ago?!

Which films would have been nominated this year in that category: Avatar, Black Panther, EEAAO, Elvis, Top Gun…but not The Fabelmans (low box office and therefore not popular)?

Would voters think that by voting for EEAAO as the Best Popular Film they wouldn’t have to vote for it as Best Picture?

Thankfully, a disaster avoided.
