Let’s be honest. It was an off year for Oscar films. Last year, we had Nomadland. The year before, we had Parasite. And before then, an all-time howler in Green Book. Who knows what next year will bring. History has been made: a streamer has won!

And the Academy takes one more step towards irrelevancy.

Are they still talking? I turned off the TV after the first two dozen thank-yous.

Glad that the ratings-hungry Academy got a Best Picture winner that's only available on a streaming service that no one has.
