It's really irksome that we have to call him just an Oscar nominee, when, really, the 2001 Visual Effects Oscar should have been his; Kubrick using rank to assign it to himself was really beneath him.
Of course, they could have alleviated this by giving it to him for Blade Runner, but they blew that.
