This may have been predictable, but that doesn't make it any less devastating. It's a huge blow not only for the performers, musicians and stage hands, many whom will be out of work; its not only a huge blow for the tourists and local audiences; its a huge economical blow. The amount of revenue New York takes in from Broadway ticket sales is pretty staggering. And once the theaters go, most other attractions will follow their lead.
