I started with the pre-pre-show on ABC-LA & NY - got my first turn-off when one of the fashionistas in complimenting Sigourney Weaver's emerald gown said that's something you would expect to see on a Bette Davis or a Katharine Hepburn which showed a complete lack of both film and fashion history as neither was ever known for their fashion - Hepburn was seldom seen in anything but pants except in her films.
The 6:30 show is at least in part pre-filmed. It began with Spike Lee being greeted as emerged from his car when he had already been interviewed further up on the red carpet.
