The contenders for Best Cinematography were Rosher and Struss for Sunrise, which deservedly won and George Barnes who was mentioned for three films, only one of which (Sadie Thompson) is readily available for viewing. The first five reels of The Magic Flame are stored at teh George Eastman House. The Devil Dancer may be a lost film, no one seems to know anything about it.

Films that might have given Sunrise legitimate competition had they been nominated include Wings, 7th Heaven, The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg and The Crowd.
