So Laurie Metcalf is really going to run the gauntlet this season? I thought it was going to be Allison Janney, honestly. But good for Metcalf. She’s already got several (back-to-back-to-back) Emmys and recently won a Tony. So she is approaching EGOT territory here.

It's not as common, but there have been a fair number of cases -- Naked Lunch '91, Sense and Sensibility '95, LA Confidential '97, Sideways '04, No Country for Old Men '07, Moneyball '11, Carol '15; probably others I'm forgetting.
Thanks Mister Tee. I'll stick with that then.

NYFCC Predictions

Damn. NBR, Gotham, NYFCC are already here? It's kinda like what Tee said:
Mister Tee wrote:A bit like opening the first Christmas gift – you know it’s all going to start coming fast and furious once you begin.
Winners are 2 days away. Every Stan (on AW & Twitter), and "Pundit" is predicting 'Call Me By Your Name' for top awards. Now that's debatable.

For one, It's something NYFCC would definitely bite into. On the other hand, they'd usually go for something less 'indie' and more 'mainstream.' It makes me think they'll go for something like Three Billboards or TSOW. However, Del toro's film is snubbed to hell for indie awards, and is stumbling out of the gate in terms of campaigning. So I suppose 3BB could be our winner? It's predicted to win Screenplay and other awards--why not Best Film on top of that? It's out of the Oscar frontrunner race IMO. And let's not forget; 'The Artist' was the last Best Picture winner to win NYFCC. So who knows.

This is rather difficult in the major categories. But I'll give it a shot...
