These are the only nominations you see this film getting. I am starting to wonder about its longevity as well. Can I ask how you came to your conclusion?
It's still one of six that could well be there for Best Picture and Director, but I think its acting chances are limited to Sacha Baron Cohen at this point.

The Globes' placement decision on the four men in One Night in Miami has been made. The Globes told Amazon all four needed to compete in the same category but would leave it up to Amazon to tell them which one. They decided on Supporting Actor.

Also, Stanley Tucci has been placed in contention for Lead Actor for Supernova.

Globe bribery has been a point of contention for years. It's why people like Pia Zadora won, not to mention the three nominations for The Tourist. BFCA bribery is not necessarily a new thing. I can recall some big bribes going out in the past; however, I couldn't name them. I mean, ostensibly, the voters decide on their own, but fancy gifts certainly sway some voters.

Very few disagreements with Irvin's Golden Globe picks:
- I'm not sold on the HFP loving Mank. Currently, predicting Da 5 Bloods over it.
- I'd be astonished if The Trial of the Chicago 7 doesn't make it in. The HFP *LOVES* Aaron Sorkin. He's the most nominated screenwriter in their history. I think the film has less in common with Steve Jobs and Molly's Game than The Social Network and Moneyball.
- Steven Yeun over Riz Ahmed. Maybe Minari will crossover more than I think.

(UPDATED Jan. 01.31.21)

BEST MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA
Da 5 Bloods

The Midnight Sky is the worst movie I've seen all year and that's saying something.

It's a total incoherent bore. I gave upon it somewhere in the second hour, just after the spaceship made radio contact with Clooney.

Razzies for Worst Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Hair and Makeup, and Costume Design - that's three for Clooney alone.

Was this a norm during past years....these "bribes" of books, whiskey and goodies? Or purely a pandemic phenomenon?

Netflix sure as hell needs to bribe the Foreign press in order to get nods for The Midnight Sky because, while well made, it has to be the year's biggest bore. No originality in plot with nothing that hasn't been said in many films before. Purely a vanity project for Mr Clooney.

On the other hand there was no need for the coffee table book for the Sorkin film as it can stand easily on its own merits and get nods.

Correction: I seem to have misremembered. It's discussed in the original link, but it's unclear whether they prevailed or Netflix talked them out of it.
That's what I remembered.

I wasn't much of a fan of Trial of the Chicago 7 but this movie seems like it's right up the HFP's alley. The only film that Aaron Sorkin has written that doesn't have a corresponding Golden Globe nomination for Best Screenplay is Malice. To put that into perspective, Woody Allen has six writing nominations. Quentin Tarantino has five. Billy Wilder has three. Aaron Sorkin has seven. He has eight produced features. They like him, they really like him.
