Boseman is in the film in flashback scenes. He's the dead guy whose remains the other four came back for. It's not much of a role but I guess it makes a convenient way to honor him if you're not going to give him Best Actor for Ma Rainey.

For a little while, the Best Supporting Actor slate looked a little bare. I had some difficulty wrapping my head around Sasha Baron Cohen winning for The Trial of the Chicago 7. I personally don't think his youth casting was quite as effective as Spike Lee intended but if he gets two nominations and voters really want to honor Anthony Hopkins for The Father, maybe Boseman for supporting could take off?
