82nd Oscars - Best Adapted Screenplay
UP IN THE AIR was the favorite to win this category.
Does anyone still have Entertainment Weekly's Oscar predictions issue? The one with Johnny Depp on the cover? The heading is, "Oscars Our Fearless Predictions."
I'd be interested to know how the magazine accessed percentages to each nominee in this category. Did they have Precious as the 2nd favorite & weighted at what percentage?
(I would look it up myself here at the library, yet I'm in Lexington, Kentucky where Johnny Depp's mom lives. Someone seems to have stolen this issue of EW.)

This was the most dissappointing moment of the evening....not that i liked bullocks performance more than the precious screenplay. But Up in the air was the best film of the year for me and it not winning here meant it coming up empty...and i liked precious as a film but the screenplay didnt' even deserve a nomination in my opinion. Its a real shame.

I too thought there was an upset brewing when Precious won Best Screenplay Adaptation.
I thought has Oprah managed to sway enough voters to vote for Precious for Best Film???
Remember her huge campaign to get Crash to win - and boy is the Academy regretting that choice!
Worst screenplay this decade? Well toss up between A Beautiful Mind and Crash.

There's your first upset of the night. Don't know that it'll portend a Best Picture upset, but I wonder if some of the Gabourey Sidibe upset talk might mean something. Hilarious that they used the clip of her stealing the fried chicken. I'll bet Armond White was throwing things at the TV.
