You might be adding Missouri to that list in two years. Rumor has it that Kit Bond may be retiring, leaving an opening for Democrats to sidle in. There is talk that Kenny Hulshof, who is currently running against long-serving Attorney General Jay Nixon for Governor of the state, may move to a senate race in two years (like that waste Jim Talent did when he lost governor right before challenging Claire McCaskill for Senate and losing again after she lost two years earlier to Roy Blunt's son Matt Blunt who is stepping down after only one term, possibly to replace dear old dad in the house some day?). It's very unlikely that Hulshof will stop Nixon's huge bi-partisan support in the state (he's never failed to win AG by less than 55% of the vote, usually over 60%/65%.

So, the Dems are talking about putting Robin Carnahan, our current Secretary of State, up against Hulshof to take over for Bond. Carnahan is the daughter of the late great Mel Carnahan who died in a plane crash right before posthumously beating John Ashcroft to the Senate seat that McCaskill now holds and was replaced by Widow Carnahan. Anyway, if Carnahan goes up against Hulshof, I think it's very likely she will take him down because she has a lot of bipartisan support that McCaskill never had when she eked out a win. If this should happen. Carnahan and McCaskill will both be serving simultaneously.

Long story short, Missouri Politics is kinda fucked up, but is often filled with legacies (Mel's son Russ Carnahan is currently serving in the US House of Representatives...how many brother-sister combinations have ever served in Congress at the same time?)

It would also be the first time since 1976 that both Missouri Senators were Democrats (Bond has been senator since 1987, when he took over for VP candidate Thomas Eagleton. Interesting tidbit, Bond is the only governor of Missouri who served two non-consecutive terms.)

Maine has Collins and Snowe (both Republicans).

Washington has Murray and Cantwell (both Democrats)
