Thanks! I saw The Witnesses a couple of weeks back knowing very little about it and was enthralled... a magnificent, painful film - better even than Longtime Companion.Precious Doll wrote:Great to see some love for The Witnesses, probably the best film to date to deal with the onset of the AIDS crisis, and Sophie Myles.
As for Sophie Myles... well yes, a terrific performance in an odd and rather underrated film.

Damien, you don't really need to feel you're alone or it's a minority opinion. I think Bridge to Terabithia is one of the best children's films I've ever seen. It doesn't talk down to kids. It's honest, well acted and emotionally engaging.

It really is lovely, isn't it? I watched it again recently and it just gets better. I introduced my nine-year-old niece to it. We were both wrecks by the end.Damien wrote:Nice to see some love for this beautiful film.rudeboy wrote:Best Picture

Nice to see some appreciation of Tears of The Black Tiger on the board. What a long and tortured journey it's had to it's US release, most of it thanks to Harvey Weinstein. But at least you got the complete version of the film.Damien wrote:BEST PICTURE
1. Tears Of The Black Tiger (Wisit Sasanatieng)
A shorter version of the film played in the UK and Australia earlier this cdecade that was cut by about 6 or 7 minutes after its Cannes première. I haven't had a chance to view the longer version yet but have it on DVD. Though I've only seen the shorter version it impressed me to no end.
I highly recommend Wisit Sasanatieng subsequent films Citizen Dog & The Unseeable.
Citizen Dog like Tears of the Black Tiger is a one of a kind gem whilst The Unseeable is a traditional, though beautiful made horror film which relies more on atmosphere then blood and guts special effects.
